Celebrities investing in Costa Rica

Among the many celebrities investing in Costa Rica, Mel Gibson is rated as one of the largest real estate investors in the little Central American country. When I met him some years ago, he was scouting the country in shorts and a T shirt, in search of a luxury home on the beach... literally he went through the Pacific Ocean coastline, beach after beach, until he found his private paradise at Hacienda Dorada... but that wasn´t enough! Mel has bought property in different parts of the country and the news say he is planning on developing a filming industry sometime in the future. The newspaper La Republica in its edition of October 3rd indicated that he has invested about $100 million in the purchase of real estate in different parts of Costa Rica. One of the houses we showed him is located on a hilltop, overlooking the famous beaches of Mal Pais and Santa Teresa. He fell in love with the views and bought a magnificent hilltop lot where he just finished building the biggest and most luxurious mansion of Mal Pais. Other celebrities that have been attracted by the beauty of Mal Pais, Santa Teresa and Hermosa beaches, the so called "new Malibu", are Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen, the Olsen sisters, Danny de Vito, Gwyneth Paltrow and many more that often visit these beaches for vacation and relaxation. Other celebrities recently visiting Costa Rica for different purposes are Madonna, Brad and his wife Angelina, Kim Kardashian, Pink, Reggie Bush, Matthew McConaughey, Britney Spears and even the Red Hot Chili Peppers like to surf in Mal Pais. Finding the perfect vacationing spot is a challenge for anyone, but for a celebrity it becomes a titanic task due to the many issues involved in trying to truly relax and get away from their busy schedules. It is estimated that 90% of foreigners who buy property in Costa Rica, came to the country as a tourist for the first time, fell in love, and returned to buy their piece in paradise!
